It needn't cost a fortune to get your own website up and running. There is a free website creator software called nvu which is almost as good as any of the 'professional' software available.
As you can see from the screenshot above, it is a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor. It is quite simple to use (similar to using a normal word processor program) and has all the features you would expect from top website creator software.
